Working of Gujarat State Land Development Corporation

During the last Krushi Mahotsav, land conservation work in 54731 hectares, 218 works of leaping of village ponds and 4897 structures of water harvesting were undertaken. In the current year, during the Krushi Mahotsav, works of soil conservation in 40624 hectars, 63 ponds, " 120 village ponds, and 1998 structure of water harvesting will be carried out.

During the last Krushi Mahotsav, more achievement than 165% in works of State Plans of soil and water conservation has been obtained. During the current Mahotsav, public oriented development works will be carried out with the same zeal and enthusiasm.

In the areas having special problems of soil and water, in order to reduce salinity the scheme of salinity ingress development of Bhal area, improvement of saline and alkaline land and the work reclamation of Kotar and ravine lands will be undertaken. Krushi Mahotsav-2005 and 2006 will be foundation stone of all-round development of the State. Due to organization of Krushi Mahotsav the approach of extension of Gujarat alongwith co-ordinated agricultural development has paved way for speedy economic development of rural areas with focus on the farmers. The organization of Krushi Mahotsav has proved that if education and research are implemented in field of agriculture it would bring miraculous results. The research works being carried out by the agriculture scientists in laboratories upto now have reached the farms of farmers. Where as on the other hand, the approach of farmers towards agriculture has also undergone change. The farmer who used to cultivate traditionally upto now has stated contacting agriculture universities to avoid the benefits of scientific guidance and agricultural research. The information as regards the quantum of fertilizers to be used in farming, use of quality and quantity of seeds to be utilized, when and how much insecticides are to be used is available now to the farmers. This is the success of the Krushi Mahotsav. This process of success has led to prosperity in the end. However, this is the first step of prosperity were beginning. Krushi Mahotsav-2006 will lift agricultural prosperity of Gujarat to high peeks of excellence.
