| Gujarat is one of the leading states contributing noticeable share in rapidly growing Animal Husbandry sector. There is a great need of consolidated data on infrastructure developed by Government of India, Government of Gujarat, State Agricultural Universities, Boards & Corporations of State and Central Government, Co-operatives, Non-Government organisations, etc. for the valuable development of Animal Husbandry sector of the state. This will help in the executions of the various programmes by considering the field reality of infrastructure. Further, this information can also be helpful to know the contribution of still unknown organisations in the state engaged in Animal Husbandry Sector. It also has an immense significance of having well organised information on infrastructure specifically in the era of information. |

| Efforts made in this direction by the Livestock Census cell and Statistical wing of the Department of Animal Husbandry under positive leadership of Dr A J Kachhia Patel, Joint Director of Animal Husbandry (Livestock Census) are well appreciable and at this moment, when the department is publishing a very special issue on "Animal Husbandry Network in Gujarat-2007" covering the database on infrastructure, I congratulate Dr A J Kachhia Patel and his team for their wonderful efforts. |

| I strongly believe that this publication will be useful to the administrators, planners, executors, scientists, extension and research workers, industries, foreign investors and very specifically to the farmer to know from where he can get the services he required. Further, this database can be well explored by utilizing Geographical Information System (GIS). |
